Although I love visiting Turin, Italy (Torino in Italian) and have been many times, I have always arrived via Milan or another Italian city. Recently, I had my first experience flying directly into Torino, and I was so impressed with how easy it was to get from the Turin airport to the city centre. Public transportation connections were easy (even with luggage), frequent and affordable, and there were also numerous options for those wanting a private transfer as well.
In my opinion, the best way to get from the Turin Airport to the city center is by bus or train. These two options are convenient, affordable and easy to navigate even for a first-time visitor. However, I’ll also walk you through how to get to downtown Turin using regular public transit, taxi or even a rental car, if that’s how you prefer to travel.
How to Get from the Turin Airport to the City Center by Bus
There are two private bus companies that connect the Turin Airport with the city center.
Arriva Italia runs at least every 30 minutes from the airport to the city center. A ticket costs €7.50 and the trip takes about 45 or 50 minutes. Most buses stop at Porta Susa and Porta Nuova, and some also continue south to Lingotto. You can pay for your bus fare by tapping your credit card on the machine as you board the bus.
Flibco also operates buses from the Turin Airport to the city center every thirty minutes. Their buses make only one stop: the Central Bus Station, which is a few blocks west of Porta Susa station on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Flibco tickets normally cost €6.99, but they also offer some discounts in off-peak travel times.
Schedules for both buses are posted at the bus stop outside the Departures building. I took the Arriva Italia shuttle as its stop near Porta Nuova was within easy walking distance of my hotel.
How to Get From the Turin Airport to the City Center by Train
There is a Trenitalia railway station at the Turin Airport. Regional train services connect the airport to the Porta Susa train station in the city center. Trains run every 30 minutes on weekday and hourly on the weekend. Fares cost €3.60 (you can buy them at the machine shown above) and the trip takes about 35 minutes.
You can see the train schedule on the electronic boards at the station. You’re looking for a train to Torino, Alba or Fossano – they all stop at the Porta Susa train station en route.
If you then need to connect to the bus or metro system in Turin, you can purchase an “Integrato B” ticket for €4.20 that includes the regional train trip plus public transit within the city (for example, a connecting metro trip to Porta Nuova or Lingotto) for 120 minutes.
How to Get From the Turin Airport to the City Center by Public Transportation
You can also travel from the Turin Airport to the city center using the city’s public transit system, although it’s time-consuming and involves a few changes.
The public transportation system runs Bus #3971 from the airport to Porta Susa station. Part of the city’s “extra-urban” bus network, a single ticket costs €3.30 and the trip takes about 40 minutes.
Your ticket allows you to continue your single journey from Porta Susa to other parts of the city center by metro, bus or tram, if required.
How to Get from the Turin Airport to the City Center by Taxi
You can get from the Turin Airport to the city center by taxi. The trip should take approximately 30 minutes (longer in rush hour traffic).
Expect to pay about €40 for the trip if your destination is near Porta Nuova, or about €50 if you’re traveling further south to Lingotto. Prices are fixed and current rates will be posted at the taxi stand, as you can see above.
How to Get from the Turin Airport to the City Center by Uber
In Turin, Uber doesn’t operate as a ride-sharing app. Instead, it is a taxi app and it connects travelers with taxis and other licensed passenger vehicles. You could give it a try but it wouldn’t offer any advantages over just taking a taxi (as per above).
Car Rentals at the Turin Airport
Personally, I wouldn’t want to rent a car to visit Turin. The city center is very walkable and the public transportation network is great.
However, if you are traveling from the Turin Airport to the cities and towns surrounding Turin, you might need to rent a car. In that case, follow the signs at the airport towards the train station, as en route you’ll find a hallway with about eight or ten different car rental companies.

Where is the Turin Airport?
The Turin-Caselle Airport is located in Caselle Torinese, a municipality of Turin. It is about 15 kilometers (10 miles) north of Turin’s city center.
What airlines fly to the Turin airport?
Caselle is a busy little airport that is (at publication time in Summer 2024) used by airlines including Ryanair, Air Dolomiti, Air France, British Airways, Iberia, KLM, Vueling and WizzAir. Some charter airlines also offer additional seasonal flights to resort destinations.
Is it better to fly into Milan or Turin?
If you’re traveling to Turin, it’s easiest to fly into Turin. However, it’s often much more expensive to fly into Turin. If you’re on a tight budget, you can also fly into Milan and take the Arriva Italia bus from Malpensa Termina 1 or Terminal directly to Turin’s Porta Susa station. The trip costs €22 and takes two hours. There are 15 daily departures and you’ll want to book online in advance to guarantee your seat.
