On my most recent trip to Barcelona I spent my first three days at Casa Camper Barcelona, a boutique hotel in the city center. Operated by Camper, a famous Spanish shoe company, this Barcelona hotel is focused on thoughtful design, great food, sustainability and celebrating the historic city center at its doorstep.
If you like the idea of staying at a local, independent hotel in Barcelona but still want high-level comfort, services and amenities, then Casa Camper Barcelona could be the perfect hotel for your next stay. There’s a reason I’ve been coming here since 2004 (!) and also stayed at their hotel in Berlin… I am a huge Casa Camper fan!
Note: I paid in full for my stay at Casa Camper Barcelona and did not disclose that I am a blogger. This is an unbiased hotel review.

Casa Camper Barcelona Rooms

I reserved one of Casa Camper Barcelona’s Camper Garden King rooms. These rooms are unique in that they are spread across both sides of the hotel hallway.
On one side of the hall you have the standard guest room, featuring the king-sized bed and closet area with a radio, hangers, shelves and a large safe. There are also lots of hooks on the wall where you can hang jackets and purses.

Beyond the bedroom is the bathroom area, with a view of the interior wall garden. It features a shower, separate toilet room and sink with ample counter space. One of my favorite things about Casa Camper rooms is how much natural light flows in from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the bathroom (but you can also close the exterior shades if you prefer your room to be totally dark).

If you pop across the hall (don’t worry – they provide robes and Camper slippers to wear!) you also have a private living room with a sofa, Brazilian hammock and balcony. If you’re a couple and one person wants to get some work done or read a book while the other is doing their hair and makeup, this layout is perfect.

Casa Camper Barcelona Restaurants
There are four restaurants at Casa Camper Barcelona. I didn’t have time to eat at them all, but if you’re staying a bit longer then you should definitely add them to your Barcelona itinerary!
Breakfast at Casa Camper Barcelona

I always choose a room rate that includes breakfast as I love a leisurely breakfast at Casa Camper before a full day of sightseeing in Barcelona. Breakfast is served in the Tentempié snack bar and features both à la carte and buffet options. Both mornings I ordered the yogurt with fresh fruit and granola, and then I added on a pan amb tomaquet one morning and avocado toast the next.
After breakfast, Tentempié turns into a snack bar where guests can grab drinks and snacks throughout the day (and night!). Coffee and pastries are free, while the other snacks and beverages are available on a self-serve honor system. If you’d prefer to have a relaxed drink, there’s also an honesty bar on the rooftop terrace.
Dos Palillos Restaurant
Dos Palillos is a Michelin-starred restaurant in Casa Camper. The menu here is Asian fusion, built around tasting menus with dishes like truffled wagyu steaks, Cantonese-style pork jowls and a millefeuille of tofu skin with yuzu. Tasting menu prices range from about €90 to €140, excluding drinks.
⭐ Dos Pebrots Restaurant

Founded by chefs who worked both at Dos Palillos and the iconic elBulli, this restaurant at Casa Camper is focused on creative, yet unpretentious, tapas based on traditional principles. The menu lists each dish and its origins, so you learn that the pine nut omelette is a recipe from the Mediterranean’s oldest cookbook and the mushroom and cheese potato gnocchi gained popularity in the 1800s when a wheat tax was introduced.
The photo above shows their seasonal vegetables preserved in olive oil, garnished with pinenuts and wildflowers. This was one of three tapas (plus one dessert!) I ordered when I visited for dinner. I had a seat at the kitchen bar (not the cocktail bar!) which gave me an insider look into the intricacies of preparing and plating such beautiful dishes.
Dos Billares Cocktail Bar
If you’re not up for a crazy night on the town, Dos Billares is a relaxed cocktail bar in Casa Camper Barcelona. They have two billiards tables and a collection of board games to keep you occupied while you sip on cocktails.
Casa Camper Barcelona Amenities

If you’re looking for the amenities in Casa Camper Barcelona, take the elevator up or down.
On the sixth floor of the hotel you’ll find Casa Camper’s rooftop terrace, a calm oasis in the busy city center. This large terrace is divided into a number of semi-private spaces where you can grab a drink from the honesty bar and relax, alone or with your traveling companions.
The hotel’s lower level is home to the gym, with an elliptical, a treadmill, and a wall rack that can be used for resistance and weight training.
In the lobby you’ll find local and international newspapers (yes, they still have the print editions!) as well as coffee table books about local and contemporary art. There are bicycles hanging from the ceiling in the entrance and my recollection is that you may be able to borrow one to ride around the city (ask at reception!).
Casa Camper Barcelona Location

I’ve been traveling to Barcelona for more than twenty years, and Casa Camper is in one of my favorite locations. It’s near the upper end of La Rambla, the iconic street that connects Placa de Catalunya to the Mediterranean Sea, and just a five-minute walk from La Boqueria Market.
From Casa Camper you can walk almost anywhere in the historic city center, and other destinations like Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell are a short metro ride away. If you’re arriving or departing from Barcelona, it’s only 600 meters from the hotel to the nearest Aerobus stop (to the airport) or to the metro stop that will take you to the main train station (Barcelona Sants).
This part of the city is called El Raval, and many years ago it had a reputation for being a little bit rough around the edges. However, I’ve been staying here as a solo female traveler since 2004, and I’ve always felt very safe. Gentrification has seen this area boom in popularity, and now the busy streets are lined with cool cocktail bars, art galleries and boutique shops.
Do I recommend Casa Camper Barcelona?

Yes, I definitely recommend Casa Camper Barcelona! As I said, I’ve been coming to this property since 2004, and I think it is one of the best hotels in the city. I absolutely love the location, the design and the breakfast, and I always look forward to staying here. I’m sure it won’t be long before I’m back again!
On my most recent trip I noticed that prices at the hotel dropped between when I booked (months in advance) and the time of my arrival. That makes Casa Camper Barcelona a great option for a last-minute getaway in Barcelona or for anyone with flexible travel plans who doesn’t need to book too far in advance.
